On Saturday June 22 , 2024, His Grace Bishop Anba Daniel , Bishop & Abbot of St. Shenouda Monastery Sydney accompanied by His Grace Bishop Anba Danieel, Bishop of the Diocese of Sydney , and a number of priests from the Coptic Churches in Australia , celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Archangel Michael and Saint Mark, in Magill , east of the city of Adelaide, the capital of the state of South Australia.
During the Mass sermon, Bishop Anba Daniel congratulated the people of the church on the feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit, the “Pentecost” which falls today on Sunday.
His Grace referred to the steps of a servant who is nominated for Priesthood, how it goes through stages before agreeing to his ordination as a priest .
After the prayer of Reconciliation, he laid his hands on and ordained the blessed Deacon Osama Abdel Malik a priest by the name of Fr Markos, to serve the Altar and the people of the same church, amidst the joy of the people, servants and deacons of the church.
It is reported that Father Markos, served for about 6 years in the church of the Virgin St Mary and the great Saint George in the city of Newcastle in the state of New South Wales.
Father Markos will travel to the Monastery of St Shenouda the Archimandrite to spend his period of the forty days there
